VISIT OF MS. FLORA TIAN, CHINA GENERAL REPRESENTATIVE, INDIA CHINA ECONOMIC AND CULTURAL COUNCIL

       While participating in the South Asian Countries Commodity  Fair, Beijing the Board's Official had discussions with the representatives of the India China Economic and Cultural Council for expanding the market of value added coir products  in China.  The Centre had happily agreed to cooperate with Coir Board in this regard.  They have profound experience in this field as they were instrumental in developing a stable market for cotton products in China.  As a preliminary step the Board had sent marketing materials like brochures and catalogues to the Centre.       

                  In order to study the industry and the products, Ms Flora Tian, China General Representative, India China Economic and Cultural Council along with Ms. Joan Huang, Commercial Representative  visited Kochi during 23-25 February, 2008.  A meeting of the Representatives of Coir Exporters Associations was held at Alleppey to discuss the modes operandi for developing the market  pull  for value added coir products in China on 23rd Feb. 2008.  The Delegation also visited Coir Village at Chingoli and Showroom and factories of  manufacturer exporters  besides Coir Museum  at Central Coir Research Institute. In the meeting held at the Coir Board headquarters on 25.02.2008 the delegation interacted with the senior officers of the Board on the ways and means to market value added coir products in China.
